Art in the City
A 9′ statue of Abraham Lincoln, depicting our 16th president at the age when he was traveling the Illinois circuit representing clients as an attorney, is located at 14th & Main Street on the grounds of the Appellate Courthouse where Lincoln visited and represented a major client, the Illinois Central Railroad. In 2011, the Illinois DAR dedicated the women veterans statue at the Brehm Library. Throughout Mt. Vernon and at each public school, you will find a variety of contemporary as well as traditional sculpture.
