Jockey Lillian Holder wouldn’t take “no” for an answer when told she couldn’t race against men at big-time racetracks simply because she was a woman. To compete like she was born and trained to do, for nearly 50 years she went where she couldn’t be stopped: bush tracks like that in Mt. Vernon at the Jefferson County Fair.
