Church- Besides family and friends, I am thankful for my church family at Central Christian Church here in Mt. Vernon. Walk in the doors, and be greeted by smiling faces, truly happy you are visiting. If you are looking for a church service while you are visiting, there are over 100 churches in the county!! The Convention & Visitors Bureau can gladly help you find information on which church you would like to visit.
Career- I am thankful for a job where I can express creativity, my love for meeting new people, and promoting the city I love. Mt. Vernon has many different avenues you can take your career down. There are several jobs in hospitality, working at restaurants, hotels, and retail. Mt. Vernon is also home to the largest private sector employer south of Peoria, Continental Tire, employing more than 3,000. I am thankful to live in a city that provides jobs for so many families!
Leisure- I am grateful for any opportunity I get to relax and have fun! There is always something happening in Mt. Vernon to attend! Live music at restaurants and events, craft fairs, trivia nights, parades, festivals, carriage rides, you name it! There are numerous reasons to get out of the house and explore the excitement happening in the city.
